Art Miami 2003 expands currents, welcomes international visitors - Show newsMIAMI -- Organizers are busy finalizing plans for the 13th edition of Art Miami, the international observe of modern and contemporary art scheduled to take place at the Miami Beach Convention Center Jan. 9 to 13 2003 According to Director Ilana Vardy, "Each year, we test to cover new territory, constantly tweaking the exhibitor base to maintain the interesting balance of well-established galleries and newcomer that has become Art Miami's trademark." "Art Miami is expanding to near a broader range of runs not typically seen at art fairs, and it adds to the show's unique flavor. There will be plenitude of new discoveries for savvy collectors." While in new years Art Miami has made its mark upon the international art fair circuit as a forum for contemporary Latin American art, it has also established its reputation with "Currents" a section of the exhibit dedicated to cutting-edge galleries. Renamed and expanded, "Current 03: fresh Perspectives" will take place in a fresh larger space featuring the work of young, emerging international artists up to the age of 35 Nearly 40 galleries--many exhibiting for the first time in the United States--will have an opportunity to experience the increasingly informed southern Florida art market. New exhibitors, including Gallerie Christian Dam (Oslo/Copenhagen), Pi Art Gallery (Krakow, Poland), Krokin Gallery (Moscow) Grapa Studio of Art (Miami), Lyle O Reitzel (Santo Domingo), Magda Danysz (Paris) and The Leisure bludgeon Mogadishni (Copenhagen), will show provocative novel work alongside returnees including Finesilver Gallery (San Antonio), Espai 292 (Barcelona), Priska C Juschka Fine Art (Brooklyn) Fucares (Madrid/Almagro) and Galeria Luz Osorio (Madrid/Medellin).
