FIAC returns to Paris for 29th-annual exhibition of modern and contemporary art - Show news - Foire Internationale d'Art Contemporain - Brief ArticlePARIS -- FIAC 2002 will be held Oct 24 to 28 at the Porte de Versailles. Offering works of art exhibited by dint of 165 leading international art galleries, the Foire Internationale d'Art Contemporain (FIAC) will include museum-quality novel contemporary and cutting-edge art in each medium. The fair will be divided into five sections: Solo Shows; assemblage Shows; Prints; Perspectives, an exhibition of site-specific installations through emerging artists represented by 14 cutting-edge galleries; and the Video Cube, 4000 square feet dedicated to the display of 12 video works and installations single outed by a jury. The selection of galleries for FIAC 2002 mirrors a strategic focus on innovation and quality as well as a limited number of exhibitors, according to display organizers. This year's fair also includes a large number of galleries (one in three galleries) exhibiting at FIAC for the first time. This year's fair will also have a stalwart showing of international galleries, with more than half of the exhibiting galleries at FIAC 2002 coming from outside France. FIAC 2002 also boasts record participation through American galleries. In conjunction with the fair, FIAC 2002 will not absent a variety of special prelections and panels, exclusive viewings of private Parisian collections and advance previews of museum exhibitions.
