David Schluss creates `Mural of Hope' - news - Brief Article

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- Artist David Schluss, who is exhibited by Smart Publishing, recently painted a "Mural of Hope" above a series of swastikas that vandals painted upon the walls of Chabad Lubavitch synagogue, a local synagogue where Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke last June The week before the vandalism incident, the windows of the fane were smashed with rocks.

Schluss said he decided to move round these messages of hate into a positive, colorful art creation. To create the mural, Schluss designed and painted the outline upon the walls of the building, and presents from the local community helped fill in the colors. He told WPLG-Channel 10 freshs in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., that the images show dancing, music and celebrating togetherness. "When I saw the wall with the swastika signs upon them, we had an idea to change these walls of terror into walls of beatification happiness and love. That's what I'm doing with all the community participating in the painting of the wall," Schluss told the of recent origins channel.

Before the local community started painting the walls, a number of speakers shared insights upon the dangers of hate and bigotry. Among them were U Representative Clay Shaw and state Senator Mandy Dawson, the pair of Ft. Lauderdale.
