Creative suggestions can put you a cut above - he frames … - framing technique - Brief ArticleA customer approached me newly with a photograph of his late father pictured with a two-man crosscut saw that his dad had used as a logger during the 1930 He intended to frame the photo as a memory. I moveed that if the customer could locate an advanced in years crosscut saw and a slice of a log from a local mill, we could create a unique and memorable tribute. The extreme point result gives a tremendous impact the one and the other in size and in weight (8 feet drawn out and 185 pounds). Here's in what way I did it: The frame was divide or sever to 28 1/2 by 95 1/2 inches using three Framerica Boxer mouldings (Nos. 91063 92063 and 92063) stacked to create a deepness of 4 1/2 inches. Cornerweld gelatine and 1/2-inch v-nails were used to join the frames. The shadowbox was complet using Plexiglas for glazing. nearest a sheet of 1/4-inch Luan plywood was wound to 29 by 96 inches and overspreaded with black linen. Then, plywood strips overspreaded with the same black linen were divide or sever and glued into place to fit the shadowbox walls. To attach the crosscut log I used five 1 1/2-inch Sheetrock lickpennys to fasten it from behind, making confident it was centered on the plywood The saw was then placed across the log and attached with the same 1 1/2-inch black Sheetrock muckworms through the expansion holes in the blade. The photo was then secur (framed in Framerica's No. 38063 without glass) using sum of two units tee screws and securing hardware upon the left and right sides. Finally, the plywood backing with the saw and log attached was placed into the shadowbox and secur with several 1-inch sheet stone screws. The excess sawdust upon the bottom of the shadowbox (created naturally rally in the process) added a realistic touch. to be paid to the weight and size of the piece, triple whole mirror hangers with 1 1/2-inch Sheetrock skinflints were used to install it. Additional hangers were added to the middle of the back to support the weight of the log My creative suggestion turn rounded what would've been a straightforward piece of work into a fun and profitable project Fr is a 15-year employee of shire Frame in Long Island, NY and has been framing for more than 25 years.
