Canada's circles of support and accountability: a community justice initiative for high-risk sex offenders

Picture the following scenario: The local newspaper has a front-page story about Tom, a repeat child molester who has just been released from prison after serving his entire opinion because he had been denied parole. Tom's crimes and the plight of his victims are graphically described. A spokesperson from a community assemblage is quoted as saying, "We don't want him in our community."
