of recent origin YORK--The Selection Committee for The Armory display 2002 has completed its selection of 164 exhibitors for the February exhibit Exhibitors include 153 of the world's leading contemporary art galleries and 11 publishers of editions and multiples. Exhibitors hail from all corners of the globe, with more than half coming from abroad, including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Reflecting upon recent tragic events, Katelijne De Backer, director, said, "The overwhelming support The Armory display 2002 received from the more than 300 applicants combined with the high quality of accepted galleries gives us great confidence that The Armory display 2002 will play a vital part in the renaissance of of recent origin York City."

In other of recent origins artist Karen Kilimnik has been commissioned by dint of show officials to create a series of original drawings to be incorporated in all visual materials associated with the fair. This is the first of an ongoing series of annual commissions to be awarded to a different artist each year, honoring The Armory Show's commitment to living artists.
