David Mullen - history of works - Brief ArticleDavid Mullen began his lifelong passion with photography when he was 10 years advanced in years after his grandfather gave him a Brownie camera. Today, he is well known for his vibrant color floral prints which have a painterly quality. Born in Lansing, Mich., Mullen views photography as a form of printmaking and wearied 18 years printing black-and-white images using various techniques--silver gelatin, platinum, Van Dyke Brown etc He has also worked with silversmithing and painting in water media. For the past seven years, Mullen has focused specifically upon chromogenic photography. His"White Room Portfolio" images are what he calls a"meditation in action. It is a portfolio dedicated to the simple state of seeing what is before me without the demands of time or verbal contemplation. Color, light and being--nothing les nothing more," he said.
