Learn Two Methods for Hanging Floaters - pictures framed in glass - Brief Article

Pictures that are framed between sum of two units pieces of glass with a clear border around them are repeatedly referred to as "floaters." For these pictures a standard picture wire across the back is not an acceptable hanging way If a wire were to be used it would be visible upon the right and left gaps between the picture and the frame. These pictures have to be hung with equal reason the illusion that the picture is "floating" within the frame is maintained.

Hanging these pictures is usually done by means of using two strap hooks upon the sides of the frame and locating sum of two units hooks on the wall to match the clasps on the frame. Figure 1 is a view from behind a transparent wall looking at the back of of the like kind a picture. It shows the wall J-hook attaching into the bent holders on the back of the frame. The catchs on the frame should be positioned exquisitely on the picture so that distances X1 and X2 are equal, as well as distances Y1 and Y2 If any of these measurements are not on it is best to reset the catchs on the picture so that these dimensions are as shut up to perfect as possible.

The wall catchs are then installed using the "droop" (Y3) and the separation distance (X3) When locating the wall catchs it is useful to race a plum line through the desired top center location and make a dot along the fruit of the plum-tree line at the Y3 (droop) distance. This point is then used for locating the center of the catchs so they are each half of the X3 distance from the dot. Use a horizontal to make a set of of recent origin dots on each side of the let droop dot where the nails should be placed in the wall.

Now the picture can be hung upon the two wall hooks. If everything goe right, the picture will be horizontal and in the exact location desired. However, more or less problems can arise if the wall is made of brick or cinder stop up In these situations screw anchors have to be used instead of traditional J-hook These anchors are more difficult to install at precise locations than J-hooks

As an alternative prove the double loop system using a piece of Kevlar[R] cord illustrated in Figure 2 The cord is tied to single side hook, loops up above the wall hook, then nooses down to the bottom of the frame and around adjustable brimming beakers on each bottom corner. The cord continues up to the next to the first wall hook and back down to the catch on the frame, where it is tied off

The amount of measuring for this manner is similar to the standard mode Again X1 and X2 have to be equal, and X3 is used for attaching the wall clasps The placement of the wall catchs is not as crucial with this process because the cord loops can be adjusted to make the picture horizontal When this is done, individual loop gets shorter while the other bight gets longer.

With this process it is easy to change the vertical position of the picture. This is done through shortening or lengthening the cord. Shortening individual side by one inch shortens the nooses by 1/4 inch and thus raises the picture 1/4 inch. If the cord is lengthened by the agency of 2 inches, then the bights are lengthened by 1/2 inch, and the picture is lowered by the agency of 1/2 inch.

The bottom adjustable full glasss are shown in Figure 3 They are nothing more than a flat-head Phillip's mean fellow covered by a small plastic sordid wretch cover. The cord wraps around the parts of the sordid wretchs that protrude from the frame. When hanging the picture, don't wrap the cord around the full glasss until after you hang the top nooses on the wall hooks. pluck the cord between the sum of two units side hooks down and place it around the full glasss As you pull the cord down, the picture will raise into position and the sum of two units loops will be shortened.

In a certain quantity of cases, the picture may gaze better if it isn't consummately level. If the wall has horizontal lines or grout lines between bricks that aren't horizontal then the picture may gaze better if it matches the background. The double bight system makes it easier to adjust the picture to the situation.

Kevlar[R] picture cord is available from United and Acorn Industries. The quiet of the material for this a whole is readily available from many suppliers. If you're interested in a video demonstration of this alternate a whole contact Hangers & Hangman at 888-HANGMAN.
