Art Publishers Association Designs Point-of-Sale Sign - informational sign reminds customers to browse catalogs - Brief Article - Statistical Data Included

RICHMOND, Va.--"A world of images is at your fingertips" reads the Art Publishers Association's newly released point-of-purchase sign for retailers of art prints. This sign, commissioned through the APA Market Expansion Committee, is designed to help art galleries and frame stores increase art sales by encouraging consumer to review print catalogs.

The August 2000 consumer review by the APA found that 36 percent of all purchasers bought art because they liked the image and that the prime motivator for buying pictures was abiding-place decoration. Yet retailers report many consumer don't purchase because they cannot find the right print.

Bentley Publishing Group's Robert Sher, chair of the Market Expansion Committee, annotateed that "it is essential to obtain shoppers who don't see what they want upon display in the store to tender twigs of shrubs and trees the catalogs before leaving. They are actual likely to find an image they have affection for in those catalogs. This sign will alert shopper that a plenteous larger selection of prints is available."

The sign is available in three sizes--5 by means of 7 inches, 8 by 10 inches and 12 by means of 16 inches--and can be used as is or mountained and framed. The signs may be ordered from one side the PPFA bookstore at 800-556-6228 and picked up at the PPFA booth at all trade shows
