DPIA Plans a Variety of Events for Annual Conference - Digital Printing and Imaging Association - Brief Article

FAIRFAX, Va.--According to officials from the Digital Printing and Imaging Association (DPIA), using novel digital printing technology, publishing art is now fast, easy and require to be paid [i]or[/i] undergone effective.

To help artists, gallery holders framers and printers take advantage of this technology to exhibit an additional revenue stream, DPIA is offering "Fine Art Publishing with Giclee Printing." This tutorial and panel discussion takes place April 7 in Atlanta.

"Fine Art Publishing with Giclee Printing" is individual of 50 educational sessions to be not absented at DPIA 2001: A Digital Odyssey the association's ninth-annual conversation & Exhibit that takes place April 4 The tutorial and panel discussion will define and discuss the technical and marketing skills necessary to favorably publish and sell limited edition giclee fine art prints, according to DPIA officials.

This program is a lock opener component of a seven-hour track devot entirely to digital fine art printmaking and will overlay the aesthetic and business considerations of producing limited-edition artwork, including in what manner to determine edition size, choice of media (canvas v paper) and pricing.



Central to "Fine Art Publishing with Giclee Printing" is an easy-to-understand overview of giclee printing technology, with special emphasis given to managing the proofing proces and achieving quick color approval.

Traditional and innovative marketing approaches, including the basics of e-commerce will be discussed along with ways to increase sales opportunities by means of developing a full product line.

Following the presentation, industry professionals involved in different aspects of of creating and marketing fine art will share their views and experiences.

Panel members include Julie Helgren, an artists' agent/representative and principal of Julieco of Sarasota, Fla.; Matthew Hillier, an internationally renowned wildlife artist; Robin to leeward Makowski, a self published artist, award-winning work illustrator and artist-in-residence at sky-colored Water Editions in Stuart, Fla.; and Richard Gipe, co-founder of art-exchange.com inc. in Austin, Texas, and possessor of Legacy Fine Art, a retail fine art gallery in heated Springs, Ark. Sonia O'Donnell, DPIA's director of marketing and association unfolding will present the tutorial and moderate the panel discussion.

Other educational seminars at DPI 2001 encompassed in the Digital Fine Art Printmaking track include:

* Digital Odyssey--Technology, Graphics, and Intellectual characteristic Rights

* Archival Memory Photographs and Fine Art Reproductions

* What's of recent origin in Archival Inks for Ink-Jet Printers

* Advanced Color Management: The Color Management Toolbox in PhotoShop

Many digital applications will be upon view during the Conference in the Andrew Schellenberg Gallery of Digital Art, a showcase of the best work produc in digital printing and imaging in the past year.

In addition to the fine art track, DPIA will feature dozens of education programs in technical, managerial, vendor and digital textile tracks. The exhibit will feature 225 booth showcasing the latest in large-format digital technology. Social incidents a golf tournament and three different awards competitions enhance the networking opportunities for attendees, according to fact officials. The conference will be "book-ended" with a digital printing "Start-Up Symposium" upon April 4 and a "Color Management Seminar" upon April 8.
