New Book Celebrates CowParade New York

of recent origin YORK--As part of the public art phenomenon known as CowParade fresh York 2000, more that 500 life-sized fiberglass daunts made themselves comfortable over the summer in parks, plazas and other public places through every part of the five boroughs of fresh York City. The colorful images, spirit and behind-thescenes stories of the daunts grazing in the urban pastures of of recent origin York City have been brought together in CowParade fresh York, a new book published through Workman Publishing.

centurys of artists and designers, ranging from public elementary learners to some of the city's best-known, of that kind as Peter Max, LeRoy Neiman and Michael Graves, helped to capture the imagination of locals and visitors alike with their fanciful creatures. Edwina Sandys, whose "Moobile Library" was situated outside the novel York Public Library, invited authors whose volumes appear on the cow to stop by dint of and autograph them. They included John Berendt, Arlene Dahl, Bel Kaufman and Jill Spalding.

daunts have a special meaning for painter Richard Haas. His father was a butcher and his mother was single of the first people in America known to have died of "mad cow" disease. Haas's dishearten is dedicated to their memory.

CowParade of recent origin York 2000 was designed to showcase novel York's rich arts community while stimulating pride and pleasure in the city, according to exhibit organizers. It follows the 1999 CowParade Chicago, touted as the greatest in quantity successful public art program in the city's history, viewed through more that 10 million nation Many of the cows from CowParade fresh York 2000 were auctioned for charity after Labor Day.
