PORTLAND, Ore.--Famed artist and political cartoonist Bill Pappas was killed June 19 in a plane crash in British Columbia, Canada while upon a fishing trip with friends. He was 73

Born in southerly Africa to Greek immigrants, Pappas showed an early affinity for drawing. through every part of the 1940s, he was ground sketching on street corners in London, Paris and Stockholm.
