Nielsens for the Web; Net Ratings tries to replicate sister firm's clout

Nielsen is a name synonymous with television ratings-and its sister company Nielsen/Net Ratings is planning upon wielding similar power in the Web ratings business.


Larger than its major competitor and armed with Nielsen's well-regarded name and established methodology, Manhattan-based toil Ratings is poised to command the field of Internet audience research. It already measures monthly traffic for Web sites in dozens of categories, ranging from dating to piece of work postings to magazines.
