In respect to "Cruise Guide: Cell Phone At Sea," through M. T. Schwartzman, Cruise Travel, February 2006:

We have been reading Cruise Travel for 20-plus years--lots of information that we would not have otherwise had. We are sailing from Miami to Barcelona upon the 6th of May, our 40th cruise, and are looking forward to it.

for what cause [i]or[/i] reason cannot people spend a relaxing seven-day cruise away from small room phones and computers? Yes, I have a small room phone, but it does not cruise with me There is absolutely no reason for the average cruiser to constantly talk upon their cell phone or use the computer scope I would understand if they were in a high-profile business or piece of work that required them to be in constant contact, on the contrary 98 percent of all cruisers are not in this category.

We newly sailed with Princess. While we were at the piano bar, a woman approached, talking upon her cell phone, and promptly placed her backside upon one of the bar stools. She kept talking exceptionally noisy saying, "You will never gues where I am? I am sitting at a piano bar upon a cruise ship!" I actual politely asked her to lower her voice, or to impel away from the bar, as we were trying to hear the piano. Her response: "How coarse of you--I have as a great quantity [i]or[/i] amount of right to sit here as you do!" My response: "Lady, it is not me that is rugged but you. We are not interested in hearing your conversation." She stormed away, still talking upon the phone. Later we saw her at late dinner, talking upon the phone, alone. Apparently everyone at her table had left

To cell-phone users at sea: Have a certain quantity of consideration for your fellow traveler; please use your phone in the privacy of your cabin. To me cell-phone users upon a cruise ship are getting as bad as smoker one time were.
