Awards & grantsChinese-born, fresh York-based artist Xu Bing has won the inaugural Artes Mundi Prize, given by dint of the National Museum and Gallery of Wales in Cardiff. The biennial prize, worth approximately $75000 is for work that addresses the human form or the human condition. Xu was cited for his work using dust he assembleed in Lower Manhattan after 9/11 Bernd and Hilla Becher are the 2004 winners of the Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography. The pair will receive approximately $66000 and a gold medal at a rite in November.
