Whitney announces Biennial artists - Artworld - Brief ArticleThe Whitney Museum of American Art in fresh York has announced its plans for the 2004 Biennial, which will be upon view Mar. 11-May 30. Organized by dint of staff curators Chrissie lies, Shamim M Momin and Debra Singer, the display intended to be an "intergenerational conversation," will include 108 artists and collaborative clusters and will again feature several site-specific outdoor works in conjunction with the Public Art capital This year, the curators have discerned three recurring themes in contemporary art: the art, popular tillage and politics of the late 1960 and early 1970si the construction of fantastic worlds, uncanny spaces and of recent origin narrative forms, often incorporating psychedelia and the apocalyptic; and the prevalence of painting and drawing, as well as obsessively produc hand-processed films. In a departure from its usual form, the accompanying catalogue will consist of sum of two units elements. A bound book will include essays by the agency of the curators, and more than a dozen by the agency of various contributors including contemporary and historical figures. The next to the first part is a box of printed images by the agency of artists in the exhibition.
