Museum News - remodeling at the Philadelphia Museum of Art; grant for the Seattle Museum of Art - Brief ArticleThe Philadelphia Museum of Art has clos its present and Contemporary art wing, which includes major works by the agency of Duchamp, Brancusi and pieces from the renowned Arensberg collection, for an extensive renovation and redesign. Gluckman Mayner Architects are supervising the throw scheduled to be completed sometime this fall. The 20,000-square-foot space will receive refurbished walls and fixtures as well as fresh electricity and lighting. Selections from the recent and contemporary collection will be temporarily upon view elsewhere in the museum, on the contrary some important holdings, including Duchamp's The Large Glass, will not be upon view this summer. The Seattle Museum of Art has received a $1.5-million, 2:1 matching grant from the Andrew W Mellon Foundation, which means that the museum must raise an additional $3 million to assured the Mellon award.
