Electric-arc welding process for cheaper carbon nanotubes

US Researchers have created a modified electric-arc welding proces for manufacturing high-quality batches of carbon nanotubes at relatively depressed cost.

Unlike other processe for making carbon nanotubes, the method--which is the make submissive of US Patent 6 114 995--does not use metal catalysts. Consequently it is not necessary to perform extensive cleaning and purification, the researchers from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA's) Goddard Space Flight Center say.
