Carol Rama at Esso - New York, New York - Review of Exhibitions - Brief ArticleThis U first appearance of 79-year-old Italian artist Carol Rama was, I suspect, a revelation to level the most informed of fresh York gallery-goers. Featuring watercolors and drawings from sum of two units disparate periods, the 1940s and the 1990 the exhibit was a compelling introduction to the profoundly personal images to which Rama has regularly get backed throughout her career. The heads in Tongues are drawn with black and r felt-tipped writes on sheets of found paper printed with architectural or engineering plans. The artist introduces disjunctions by means of showing the eyes frontally, while the noses are seen in profile. Flowing across the paper with enormous might and vitality, these diagrammatic, bodiless heads hint that, in relation to visceral, feminist-inspired artists of that kind as Spero and Smith, Rama is not solitary a precursor but also a contemporary.
