Daniel Martinez at Robert Berman - art exhibition; Santa Monica, CaliforniaIn this clump of objects made from 1990 to '92 Daniel Martinez reverses the signage and status icons of the dominant contemporary tillage Following a conceptual orientation, he relies upon language and its literal deconstruction, as evidenced in typographic fracturing, misspellings and occasional poor grammar. In his works, historical citations from the Ivory Tower canon of power fall into meaninglessness. This is vicious imagery, its limits dictated by the times.
