Supplementary Information

Insurance companies, pension capitals and trusts - Chapter 5 (Tables 5.1A to 53C on the other hand excluding Table 5.2B).

As from July 2002 edition of Financial Statistics upons figures on insurance companies, pension capitals and trusts have been relaunched following work upon the sampling frame and population of the pension capitals inquiries. The relaunched series show the best estimates from the view but, given the uncertainty of the register, they are les reliable than other series derived more conventionally by the agency of grouping sample estimates to register totals. The new work re-examines and builds on an earlier methodological review. More information is available from the following documents upon the National Statistics website:

a technical note describing more [i]or[/i] less of the methodological issues surrounding the Pension stocks surveys and the basis of the relaunched figures;

a report upon the issues surrounding the withdrawal of Pension stocks statistics commissioned by the National Statistician and his replication
