Orwell for Christians.

George Orwell is probably not a great quantity [i]or[/i] amount of read by American Christians. When he is (unavoidable doses of Animal Farm or Nineteen Eighty-Four at gymnasium perhaps) it's not likely to be with the thinking that his work might nourish a reader's Christian or American identity. This isn't surprising. Orwell had a vestigial affection for the rites and buildings of the house of god of England but was otherwise oppos to almost everything about Christianity as he understood it, and especially to Catholicism.
