Foreword

Readers of this special issue devot to sex and information technology will find that the visitant editors, Deborah J. Haynes, Deborah Keyek-Franssen, and Nina Molinaro, have assembleed a thoughtful and provocative place of documents that illuminates the division among feminists above the implications of this technology for women Feminists in the sciences and social sciences, who dominate the debate, emphasize by what mode information technology presents possibilities for white, privileged women while feminists in the humanities stres that information technology can strengthen existing differences among women of the like kind as those entailed in race and sexuality, as well as provide opportunities. Haynes, Keyek-Franssen, and Molinaro include articles from one as well as the other sides and, especially crucial for developing this debate, take a well reasoned position that calls us to action. We would like to thank our visitor editors for these contributions to an issue that permeates our everyday lives and is reshaping global discourse. Finally, all the editors involved with this issue want to thank Seline Szkupinski-Quiroga, whose expertise upon the complicated relations among ethnicity, race, technology, and sex enriched this volume.
