It raged from Belgrade to Helsinki, Cairo to Tel Aviv, Jakarta to Delhi; it reached from the middle of Europe into the heart of Africa, and from the Near East to the Far East; it flat found its way to distant islands like Zanzibar, Ceylon and Cuba. It was, in other words, perhaps the greatest in quantity truly global conflict in history. notwithstanding its weapons were demarches, public diplomacy, trade missions, and exhibition assistance. And, ironically, the winning side gave in first.
