AIDS is ravaging agriculture in Africa

* Scientists report that AIDS is ravaging agriculture in Africa as fewer, les nutritious, and les profitable harvests are being planted. Less labor-intensive harvests like maize are replacing cash harvests such as coffee. With 30 to 40 percent of the adult southerly African population HIV positive, there are fewer and unhealthier race to work the fields. In Kenya, areas of cultivated land have dropp through 68 percent. In Burkina Faso, 20 percent of rural families have reduc their agricultural work or abandoned family farms altogether.
