Respondent non-cooperation in surveys and diaries: an analysis of item non-response and panel attrition.

This paper analyses the impact of questionnaire design and longitudinal dimensions of participation on item non-response and panel attrition. Based on the results of previous studies, the authors move a framework that involves the mediating variables of participation fatigue and horizontal of difficulty. From this framework, they evolve a set of hypotheses upon item non-response and panel attrition, which then are proofed using a large database mustered by AT & T. The rises show that difficult questions in views and diaries lead to higher rates of item non-response.
