Electronic Management of Liège City Council's Files

IRIS cluster has announced the extension of an existing contract with Li??ge City Council and the delivery of 9 fresh licences for IRISPdf, its professional PDF file generation solution.

Within the adjoining matter of the Li??ge Council systems' modernisation, combination of parts to form a whole integrator Bull proposed that the Council should install an electronic document management solution, based upon IRIS's technology. The solution will implement an application management combination of parts to form a whole for the foreign national files (refugee and asylum seekers) for the Population Department.

Li??ge City Council had three main goals in mind:

* Reducing archive storage space by dint of converting paper into digital files.

* Facilitating the retrieval of any given file.

The solution propos through Bull, in collaboration with IRIS, consisted of:

* Digitisation of documents with 2 i260 Kodak scanners and KODAK Capture Software.

* OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and conversion of documents to PDF format, using IRISPdf.

* KODAK Capture Software, incorporating automatic indexing of documents via barcodes. With indexing, it is possible to have a PDF file containing the one and the other the image of the document and the editable true copy greatly facilitating the retrieval of archived documents via keyword searches.

* Recording, archiving and consultation of documents thanks to IRIS's DocCenter solution.

* Integration of the application with the existing database. Access to this database has been made possible via the Internet, thanks to the Geap solution from male

* Sending documents to the Foreign Nationals Department by dint of email, with attachments, directly from a document management combination of parts to form a whole

Li??ge City Council not long ago equipped the counters of its Foreign Nationals section with 8 of recent origin scanning stations, each of which comprises a Kodak i40 scanner, the KODAK Capture Software outcome and the IRISPdf solution.
