Abstract
This article examines the possibility of political change from one side the examination of ontological general [i]or[/i] abstract notions pertaining to the social as drawn from the thinking of Lacan and Deleuze. Distinguishing between the virtual and the actual, I argue that a politics of the actual, which is premised upon conflicts between social groups, fails to exhibit real social change by dint of leaving the virtual social construction organizing relationships between these assemblages intact.
