A systems approach to organizational effectiveness: the alignment of critical organizational dimensions with selected business/competitive strategies.


As indicated by dint of the literature, leader behaviors, salient management practices (management by the agency of objectives and compensation practices), organizational construction and organizational culture were chosen as the dimensions with the greatest impact upon business/competitive strategy implementation. So as not to overgeneralize, business horizontal strategies were collapsed into two--retrenchment and growing For similar reasons, the competitive strategy schema was simplified in of that kind a way that competition alone on the basis of price and innovation was retained. Informed by means of relevant literature and case studies, implementation guidelines were crafted that appear to have considerable practical utility.
