Note from the EditorsThis issue of the Journal of Correctional Education is our annual special topics publication. Readers will find that the topic, "Women's Issues in Correctional Education," is woven quite through the findings presented in this issue. It is encouraging to note that programs and the close attention of female educational needs are growing in our field. For far too lengthy correctional institution programming and services has been dominated by the agency of male perspectives; but balance is occurring and our female trespassers are being served with a greater breadth of offerings. We are also pleased to announce that the July 2007 special topic for the Journal of Correctional Education has been prefered It will be "International Perspectives in Correctional Education." Please plan your research and publication agenda to include submission of work upon this topic. Finally, the Correctional Education Association announces In this issue the establishment of a unique opportunity for professional exhibition for CEA members. The "Highly Qualified Correctional Educator (HQCE)" certificate will be piloted this fall by means of CEA and California State University San Bernardino. This certificate is comprised of three courses which overview the history, unravelling and contemporary practice of correctional education and can be complet entirely on-line for undergraduate and graduate credit.
