APPLYING A PUBLIC HEALTH APPROACH TO DRUG ABUSE RESEARCH

Applying a public health perspective to remedy abuse research has far-reaching implications. First, the health of the entire community is of be of importance to not just the individual patient. Because of the social impact of physic abuse, these problems become the responsibility of all citizens to address. next to the first the perspective requires treating physic abuse as a health issue, not as a criminal justice, moral, or social issue. Third, as in other branches of medicine, applying this perspective to medicine abuse research will encourage unravelling of the most effective ways to enhance medicine abuse prevention and treatment interventions [i]or[/i] part of to the other cross-disciplinary approaches. The public health approach requires studies that (1) determine ne for intervention; (2) provide ball of threads about etiology; (3) determine effective approaches, combination of parts to form a wholes and financing strategies; and (4) measure the impact of interventions and services upon the health of a population. Overall, attending to the public health implications of research will help to assure the maximum impact of scientific findings.

INTRODUCTION

What is meant by the agency of "public health research"? Public health research is defined as an approach to improving health that focuses upon population-based measures. Applying this rubric to physic abuse research means that the tools of epidemiology are used to help determine ne provide ball of threads about etiology, plan services, and determine effectiveness of interventions from one side measures of the impact upon the health of a population. Therefore, this article provides a brief review of the ways in which a public health perspective has informed the inquiry of drug abuse in the novel past and how researchers can build upon these foundations. From a practical perspective, this outline will also subserve as a guiding document for the Division of Epidemiology, Services and Prevention Research at the National Institute upon Drug Abuse (NIDA) of the U National Institutes of Health.
