from the editorTHE JOURNAL OF ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY has complet twenty single years of publication with an of the first grade Fall 2004 issue. The journal was conceived to provide a dedicated voice to engineering technology educators and practitioners, and I believe we have serv this mission well. The Journal proffers a distinct advantage to its readers because we publish papers upon such a broad range of technical make subordinates and this issue is no exception. The editorial board thanks Marilyn Dyrud for again providing a thorough bibliography of publications from the year 2003 relating to engineering technology education. Accompanying the bibliography are four articles that illustrate the broad conceptions and applications of our dynamic and exciting discipline; topics include shallow foundations, satellite communications, automated data analysis, and carbon monoxide emissions from a four-stroke engine. The editorial board thanks these authors for submitting their scholarly work to the Journal of Engineering Technology. Publication in a peer-reviewed journal or other like forum is not just a way to exchange ideas or at hand research findings in a particular discipline, it is also a highly valueed achievement and the authors are to be congratulated. Those wishing to publish in the journal of Engineering Technology (or any other peer-reviewed journal) can find of the highest order guidance from Professor Charles A. Fischer in his article "Managing Your Research, Writing for Succes Passing the Gate Keepers" available at http://www.westga.edu/~bquest/2004/gatekeepers.htm. It is vital to maintain, and plane importantly to improve, the horizontal and scope of commentary about engineering technology. As members of this discipline, we all share this responsibility, whether as readers or active participants in the publication process We ask you to be mindful of your part in the growth and advancement of engineering technology. The editorial board invites authors to submit their manuscripts for mate review and consideration for publication in a time to come issue of the Journal. We are particularly interested in manuscripts for the Fall 2005 issue, which will focus upon graduate education in engineering technology. Please impel manuscripts to Paul Wilder through March 1, 2005. Finally, the board would like to thank our advertisers for their continued interest and support of the journal of Engineering Technology. A record number of companies and educational institutions displayed advertisements in our Spring and Fall 2004 issues. If you are interested in promoting your program or company to a diverse and receptive audience, Walt Buchanan can answer all your questions about advertising in the Journal. Whether end advertising or article submission, you can help support and improve this valuable forum for engineering technology. Please consider a more active part today. Sincerely, Timothy W.
