DISASTERS, SATISFACTION, AND IT TRAINING

A dynamic pressing necessity response management information system Information a whole s satisfaction: a review Electronic performance support for end-user training

This issue's lead paper by dint of Turoff, Chumer, Van de Walle, and Yao (2004) outlines the principles for a dynamic extremity response management information system (DERMIS) that would provide the framework for effective answer to a future large scale disaster. of the like kind a disaster might result from an fact like the World Trade Center attack or from a natural calamity. The public interest, for any political division would be served by a of recent origin kind of system that could provide flexible support for the reply by many people and organizations in the way that some unexpected, but disastrous, occurrence Recent very public discussions in fresh York have made this true clear.

This paper is quite unique in the IS literature and will be of interest to clan interested in public policy as well as researchers, potential a whole developers and others. To bring forward this paper the authors have relied upon diverse literature as well as their experience with previous major calamitous and potentially calamitous circumstances such as the Y2K point to be solved or settled and the wage and price directions of the 1970s in the US. The paper lays without the requirements for such a combination of parts to form a whole presents a conceptual design, and reveals many potential research opportunities in connection with the exhibition of such systems.

We are actual proud to be able to at hand such a valuable paper. It will make an important contribution to popular discussions about how to "make positive that this never happens again." Our ability to entertain this paper is an example of the journal's flexibility and mission to near exciting new research to the IS community in a timely way.

In our next to the first paper Khalifa and Liu (2004) review the state of research in IS satisfaction. Satisfaction research has been an interesting and fruitful stream in IS research for the last 20 years. Researchers make go rounded to user satisfaction as a measure of IS succes in the early 1980 as an alternative to observing functional performance, affects upon firms' bottom line, and other measures of a whole performance. For many of us in the community, this paper brings us up to date upon a stream of research for which we may have a certain quantity of familiarity, but for which we may be largely unfamiliar with the fruits of the research in new years.

Many of us, for example, may not be aware of the interaction between IS and marketing research theory in this stream of research. Here the authors criticize the applicability of "disconfirmation theory" to satisfaction research and provide a certain quantity of guidance for how this theory could be further unfolded to give it greater efficacy for use in this stream. novel researchers who may want to dog studies of satisfaction and related IS riddles will want to study this paper carefully.

Mao (2004) provides universals and overview for electronic performance support (EPS) for IT training. He helps us to understand the principle objectives as well as the limitations for of that kind systems and the relationships between EP and traditional IT training modus operandis He also introduces a theoretical basis for the evaluation and adoption of of that kind systems. His paper also introduces propositions for potential research in this area.

We're true pleased with this new issue, which will be heavily read and, we await provide many ideas for researchers and practitioners alike.
