The structure of occupational well-being: a study among Dutch teachers.

The literature upon subjective well-being usually construes well-being as a primarily affective state (Diener, Suh Lucas, & Smith, 1999) However, above the past 15 years several broader conceptualizations of well-being have been propos including not solitary affect, but also behaviour and motivation (Ryff 1989; Ryff & Keye 1995; Wart, 1987 1994) This raises the question by what means subjective well-being should be understood: does well-being mainly direct to an affective judgement regarding the facts that occur in people's lives (Diener et al., 1999) or should well-being be considered a broader phenomenon that involves other, non-affective aspects as well?
