A bountiful yearI am writing this President's Message just before Thanksgiving and you'll probably be reading it in the midst of the busy holiday season. It therefore looks appropriate to stop and gaze at all the things the Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology has to be thankful for as we shut up out 1997. It truly has been a profitable year for IEST. First of all, we are recognized as the premier professional technical society for the industries and disciplines we work for Our reputation, and the responsibility that goe with it, is embodied in our members and the talents that they bring to IEST. Our educational programs are increasing in number and attendance. The Technical Divisions and Working clumps continue to make outstanding progres in the unfolding of standards and practices. We sold our building in Chicago, reducing a drain upon both our financial and human resources. We have welcomed a fresh Executive Director and reshaped the Headquarters staff to better support our strategic plan. This of recent origin staff was introduced to the Executive Board at our November meeting and I am actual excited at the caliber of professionals we have added. We are well positioned for a novel level of support to our programs and members. This staff reshaping was done with an increase of alone one in our total number of Headquarters personnel The 1998 Annual Technical Meeting (ATM) is going to be our best ever! Attendance for the technical programs, tutorials, and networking incidents will be bursting at the seams. The quality of the offerings is admirable as well, including presentation of more than 125 technical papers. We will be joined at the ATM by the agency of the International Confederation of Contamination rule Societies (ICCCS) and the Parenteral physic Association (PDA), which will further strengthen our programs and attendance. We are all thankful for the sampling of IEST milestones described above. We cannot forget that these accomplishments are to be paid to the extraordinary dedication of our members. IEST is call down blessings oned with hard working volunteers that give of their time and talent to make IEST better each day. Thank you all for your efforts! Have a great Holiday Season!
