Kansas Nurses Foundation 2005 Scholarship AwardsFrom its inception the Kansas nourishs Foundation's purpose has been to receive and manage stocks derived from memorials, gifts and contributions; and to apply the income in order to support nursing education and scientific-activities from one side grants, loans and scholarships to individuals, organizations and institutions engaged in nursing education. This year marks the twenty-fourth year that KNF has given scholarships for nursing education. A total of $95600 in scholarships and research grants have been given since 1981 to 213 scholars throughout the state of Kansas. Thirteen scholarships were awarded in 2005 sum of two units were awarded $300 scholarships, ten were awarded $500 scholarships and single was awarded $1,000 scholarships. Wesley seminary of Nursing Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship Kelsey Lowe, Mission, is attending Rockhurst University's Research body of Nursing. She plans upon participating in the Health shoot forward Guatemala during her senior year at Rockhurst Eventually Lowe's goal is to obtain her Master's in healthcare management. District 1 Endowed Scholarship Amy Hertlein, Topeka, is pursing her BSN at Washburn University's place of education of Nursing. She is been a member of Heartland Doula's since 2001 After graduation Hertlein plans to continue upon the path to be an advanced registered nourish practitioner. George DeVane Scholarship Ludmilla Wilson, Topeka, is publicly in her second year pursuing a Master's in nourish anesthesia from the School of Allied Health at KU Medical Center She received her BSN from Washburn University in 2001 Before pursuing a step in nurse anesthesia, Wilson was a RN in the Intensive Care Unit at Stormont-Vail. After graduation she plans upon returning to StormontVail and working in the operating scope Wilson is a member of KSNA, District 1 Dorothy Ladd Managed KSNA District 9 Scholarship Linda Sledd Osawatomie, is attending Neosho shire Community College, School of Nursing. Sledd popularly works as a Unit Assistant and Secretary at Olathe Medical Center in the Birth Place and Women's Health floor. After graduation she plans upon being a community nurse at "My Father's House," a newly formed homeles shelter in Paola, which Sledd was lock opener in forming. Morgan-Sanders Endowed Scholarship Christian Taylor, Wichita, is pursing his BSN at Tabor guild He received his Associates step in Nursing from Butler shire Community College. Taylor currently works in the Medial Intensive Care Unit at Via Christi St Francis in Wichita. After graduation he plans upon continuing his career and education in Wichita. Florence J Nelson Endowed Scholarship Karen Lehman, Newton, is attending Wichita State University in pursuit of her MSN She is commonly employed at the Wesley Medical Center as a RN in the extremity Department. Lehman is also a Certified potency and Conditioning Specialist at Newton Wellness Center She received her BSN from Bethel guild and a BS in Exercise Science and Wellness from Nebraska Wesleyan University. Lehman is ACLS, PALS, TNCC and CSC certified. Lehman futurity plans include being a Family nurture Practitioner in a medically-underserved area of Kansas. She plans to eventually lay open or jointly operate a free-standing clinic. Lehman is a member of KSNA District 4 Roberta D Thiry Endowed Scholarship Patricia Patton, Dodge City, is attending University of Phoenix in pursuit of her BSN She received her Associate of Science in Nursing from Dodge City Community guild in 1987. Patton currently is a Facility Surveyor RN Dorothy Astle Endowed Scholarship Melanie Emily, Larned, is attending Barton shire Community College in pursuit of her ADN. She commonly works at Larned State Hospital as a Mental Health Specialist. Emily has also worked as a CNA. After graduation Emily plans upon working at Central Kansas Medical Center St Joseph's or as a traveling supply with nourishment Eventually she plans on getting her BSN and focusing upon Holistic Care. KNF 2005 Scholarship Award Winners KNF General Scholarships Shasta Blevins, Pierceville, is attending Garden City Community association and pursing her associate's stage in nursing. She currently works as a Unit recorder in the Intensive Care Unit at St Catherine Hospital. Blevins anticipates pursing a career as an RN in the Pediatric Unit and Newborn Intensive Care Unit. Christi Hay, Osawatomie, is attending Neosho shire Community College School of Nursing. After graduation Hay plans upon working at Miami County Medical Center Eventually Hay wishes to work as a labor and delivery supply with nourishment in the Kansas City Metro area. Jaime Thompson Baldwin City, received her CNA from Johnson shire Community College. She works in the Breastfeeding Clinic at Stormont-Vail Hospital. Thompson is generally attending Baker University School of Nursing in pursuit of her BSN She plans upon working at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in the Post-Surgical or Maternity Unit after graduation. Norma Parker Endowed Scholarship Michelle Stunkel Junction City, is pursuing an Associate's stage in Nursing at Manhattan Area Technical body She currently works as a CNA at Wakefield Rehab Center After graduation Stunkel plans upon working in Med/Surg, OB/GYN and the NICU over her career.
