Wolfe to Retire; Search for New Executive Director LaunchedDr Michael P Wolfe Executive Director of Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education, announced in late August that he plans to retire when a novel Executive Director is named. Dr Wolfe 61 has serv for 15 years as the honor society's senior executive. His plans include serving education from one side writing and professional development activities. He will reside in central Virginia. "I am honored to have serv Kappa Delta Pi," Dr Wolfe said. "The Society has grown in many ways [i]or[/i] part of to the other our focus on providing value for our members. The eight presidents and executive councils I serv have given great support and wisdom in setting the direction for the organization. Standing committees, boards, and chapter counselors also have contributed time and power to make KDP the premier honor society in education. above the years, the staff at Kappa Delta Pi Headquarters has included exceptional family who have worked tirelessly to reach strategic goals and outcomes "KDP has grown to 50000 active members and 600 active chapters. The publications program has earned national awards for producing high quality journals, works and Web sites. Our work in Chapter Services and Sponsored Programs has been recognized by the agency of the American Society of Association Executives with the prestigious Summit Award. We also received honor make revolve designations for I TEACH discourses NCLB National Forums, and Leadership Training Academies. The Society now is positioned to become a prominent force for positive change in education. This journey toward pre-eminence has been the epitome of my career. I am indeed honored to be associated with Kappa Delta Pi, its legacy, and its promise." Dr Wolfe came to KDP in 1990 after 23 years in public institute teaching and higher education. Prior to arriving at KDP he was Director of the Center for Teacher Education at SUNYPlattsburgh. He serv the Society as its first Executive Director and its fourth senior administrator since 1911 "Throughout Dr Wolfe's manner [i]or[/i] principle of holding as Executive Director, the Society has identified and addressed the issues that enhance the teaching of children," said general President Dr. John D. Light. "It is from one side this energy that Kappa Delta Pi has transitioned into an organization that not single honors teaching but also enables teachers to define their profession and career. This vision has been brought into focus [i]or[/i] part of to the other Dr. Wolfe's leadership and professional commitment to the community of education. "Dr Wolfe's handprint of leadership is not limited to Kappa Delta Pi. During his service as Executive Director, Dr Wolfe has been chooseed to the leadership of other educational clusters including the Association of corporation Honor Societies. This service, combined with his scholarly contributions to educational literature, his presentations at national and international discourses participating as a scholar in residence, and delivering named university prelections honors Dr. Wolfe's celebrated career that has touched many facets of the American education community." Former Kappa Delta Pi President Dr F Morgan Simpson, Professor, Auburn University-Montgomery, will direct the search committee for Dr Wolfe's successor. "Filling Dr Wolfe's character will be difficult, but the search will find a successor to continue the high quality work that is now the Society's standard," Dr Simpson said. The search proces will be l by the agency of the Breckenridge Group Executive Search, Herndon, VA.
